How to claim a Costco price match
If a Costco price drops within 30 days of your purchase, you can usually get the difference refunded at the warehouse where you bought it. PriceMatcher watches for those drops automatically. This page explains how to claim the refund once we tell you about one.
The four-step claim
Within 30 days of your purchase
Head back to the same Costco warehousewhere you bought the item. Costco's policy is per-store, so a different warehouse won't qualify even if their price is lower.
Bring your original receipt
Paper or a clear photo on your phone both work. PriceMatcher keeps a copy of the scanned receipt in your Purchases tab, where you can tap into it and show the photo directly.
Go to the Returns counter
Show them the price drop: your PriceMatcher alert, the current shelf price, or whatever evidence you have that the price went down. They'll look it up.
The difference is refunded
Once approved, the difference goes back to the original form of payment. You walk out with the savings. No exchange, no return required.
What qualifies
- ✅ Same item: matching item number on the receipt.
- ✅ Same warehouse: Costco honors price drops per-store, not across locations.
- ✅ Drop happens within 30 days of your purchase date.
- ✅ For promotional sales: your request must also fall within the active promo dates, not just the 30-day window.
What doesn't qualify
- ❌ Prices at a different Costco warehouse.
- ❌ Prices at other retailers. Costco only matches itself.
- ❌ Costco.com prices for in-warehouse purchases (and vice versa).
- ❌ Gold bullion and certain other excluded categories.
- ❌ Reseller members are subject to different rules.
The fine print
Costco can decline any price-match request at their discretion. PriceMatcher helps you spot drops worth claiming. The final decision is theirs. For the complete and authoritative policy text, see Costco's official Price Adjustment policy.
